The PAXcam Difference

< Back

PAXcam Digital Microscope CameraPAXcam is far superior to other cameras' painful methods of capturing to Windows with coded filenames, capturing to memory cards for future download, or capturing to a rudimentary filing system.  Designed for pathology, the PAXcam captures directly into a case folder for reporting, archiving, or presentation.

Is PAXcam really different from other cameras with their multiple pull down menus, or a multi-tabbed interface that leave you guessing where to go next?

YES!! Consider:

-- The PAXcam interface has the exact controls you need for easily adjusting exposure, contrast, and color all in one simple location.

-- The PAXcam interface has simplified controls for determining exposure and color…including an automatic-exposure “find” button, a “set” box so that exposure will automatically adjust when objectives are changed, and easy-to-use white balance controls.

-- The PAXcam interface is the only digital camera for microscopy that lets you save directly to the following:

  • capture directly to a PowerPoint presentation or a Word document….from the camera
  • capture directly to an ftp protocol from the camera…for online reporting
  • capture directly to an export routine interfaced to your reporting software (note: dependent upon appropriate controls being available in your A/P software)
  • capture directly to a case folder to archive according to accession number, or according to other user-selected means
  • capture directly to an outgoing email

What does it take from a day-to-day standpoint to make this happen?

The typical workflow

A) Open the camera interface
B) Capture the image—to any or all locations listed above!
C) Enter the accession number (manually, or by barcode reader) and your image is in your archive, your report, and/or your presentation… and the camera is ready for the next image

If initial adjustments need to be made to get a good image, the workflow may be extended a couple of clicks with these simple adjustments:

  • Open the camera interface
  • Find the exposure by clicking on the ‘Find’ button
  • Adjust the color balance by clicking the ‘white balance’ button
  • Adjust the contrast by clicking the contrast slider
  • Capture the image
  • Enter the accession number -- Ready for the next image.

NOTE: all adjustments for exposure, contrast, and color are remembered for the next session, even if the camera or software is turned off, so that you are ready to capture images for your next session!

Networking your practice with PAXcam and the integrated PAX-it software:

Use PAXcam for your gross or biopsies using our exclusive "PAXcam Macro Stand". When the microscopic images are taken, they automatically find the same case folder, based on accession number!

The PAX-it archive can be used to database images according to tissue type, stain protocol, diagnosis, etc, to be useful as search criteria later. Or simply file and retrieve from easy to manage case folders, with image tagging, image annotations, export functions, and the ability to take images directly to reports, presentations, email, and more!
